Top Chinese economic officials and experts expressed confidence in China's economic growth prospects at the 2025–2026 China Economic Annual Conference, held in Beijing this past Saturday. They also reaffirmed the government's dedication to supporting the economy through strategic policies as China aims to further advance high-quality development initiatives in the coming year.
The China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) hosted the economic conference. The focus was on putting the guiding principles of the Central Economic Work Conference into action and building a strong foundation for high-quality development as the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030) begins.
Several prominent figures delivered detailed briefings on key policy directions. These included Han Wenxiu, executive deputy director of the Office of the Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs; Xiao Weiming, deputy secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission; Wang Yiming, vice chairman of CCIEE; and Zhu Min, former deputy governor of the People's Bank of China and former deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund.
Economy Shows Resilience, Growth Outlook Upgraded
Han Wenxiu stated that despite various pressures, China's economy has continued to progress steadily. He emphasized its strong resilience and the momentum toward higher-quality growth. According to Han, major economic indicators have performed better than anticipated. Consequently, many institutions, both domestic and international, now predict full-year growth of approximately 5 percent, highlighting China's significant role.
