Kalamkaval's box office performance is slowing, but it's still within striking distance of becoming Mammootty's 2nd highest-grossing post-COVID film worldwide.
Starring Mammootty, Kalamkaval's box office run has seen a slight deceleration in its second week, though its overall earnings continue to climb. Having already secured a place among Mammootty's top three highest-grossing films since the pandemic, the movie is now aiming for another milestone: becoming his second-highest-grossing film worldwide during this period.
**Kalamkaval's Box Office Performance After 12 Days**
On its twelfth day, a Tuesday, the Malayalam neo-noir crime thriller earned 60 lakh in India. This represents a 20% decrease from the previous day's earnings of 75 lakh. According to Sacnilk, the film's net earnings in India are approximately 33.55 crore, which translates to a gross of 39.58 crore after GST adjustments. The overseas market has contributed 36.75 crore gross.
Combining the domestic and international figures, Kalamkaval's worldwide gross box office collection after 12 days stands at 76.33 crore. This is a successful result considering the film's controlled budget. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. its early slowdown means it likely won't reach a global gross of 100 crore, a mark that once seemed attainable.
**Collection Breakdown:**
- India Net: 33.55 crores
- India Gross: 39.58 crores
- Overseas Gross: 36.75 crores
- Worldwide Gross: 76.33 crores
**Chasing Kannur Squad**
With its current gross of 76.33 crore, Kalamkaval holds the position of Mammootty's third-highest-grossing film in the post-COVID era. To move into second place, it needs to surpass Kannur Squad, which earned 81.9 crore. The difference between the two films is just 5.57 crore.
While overtaking Kannur Squad seems possible, the film's slowing momentum and reduced screen count in its third week might make it a challenge. A significant boost during the third weekend could improve its chances.
