Farhan Akhtar has shared a major update about Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif starrer Jee Le Zaraa, confirming that the film is finally happening!
In August 2021, Farhan Akhtar announced a female-driven road trip film, ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, with Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif. While fans had been eagerly waiting for updates, several reports suggested that the project had been delayed due to scheduling conflicts. Some reports even claimed that the film had been shelved entirely. However, fans finally have reason to rejoice, as Farhan Akhtar himself has confirmed that Jee Le Zaraa is finally happening! While the delays were caused by scheduling clashes and casting for male leads, Farhan said that everything has finally been sorted.
Jee Le Zaraa Is Back On Track
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif starrer Jee Le Zaraa is finally happening and is back on track. The report states that coordinating dates for the three actresses wasn’t easy, and that Priyanka Chopra’s global commitments were the biggest obstacle. However, she has now agreed to carve out time for the film. The three lead actresses’ scheduling wasn’t the only issue. The report further states that Farhan and co-writers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti had a tough time finding male co-stars who were worthy of the trio. They wanted three A-list actors to pair with Katrina, Priyanka, and Alia, and that requirement slowed things down even more.
Farhan Akhtar Confirms Jee Le Zaraa Will Start Soon
Over the last few years, a lot changed in the actresses’ personal lives. Katrina Kaif welcomed a baby boy in November this year, while Alia Bhatt’s daughter Raha was born in 2022. Priyanka Chopra is also a mother to Malti Marie, who was born in 2022. With all the personal shifts now settled, the production is finally back on track, reports Deccan Chronicle. Farhan Akhtar also confirmed that they will begin Jee Le Zaraa soon, and said, “To be honest, it was traumatic trying to get the actors’ dates. But we’ve sorted all that out. We’ll start soon."
Jee Le Zaraa is touted to be a road-trip film similar to the hit film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which starred Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol.
When Priyanka Chopra Expressed Excitement For Jee Le Zaraa
In 2021, while announcing Jee Le Zaraa, Priyanka Chopra shared a note that read, “Let’s rewind, to me musing about wanting to do another Hindi movie ASAP, on an unusually rainy night in Mumbai in Nov 2019. But it had to be the right one – different, cool, never been done before… I thought. The idea grew into a movie helmed by an all-female cast. There are not enough Hindi movies that are female multi-starrers. This led to an impulsive phone call… to my 2 real friends about this idea that involved 3 on-screen girlfriends. A celebration of friendship we called it!"
“Katrina, Alia, and I enthusiastically met in February 2020 (as seen in this picture), just before the world shut down, to discuss who we could trust to bring this vision to life for us and our choice was unanimous… Farhan and Ritesh, Zoya and Reema. We had all worked with @excelmovies and @tigerbabyfilms individually so this seemed perfect. It just so happened that Farhan was working on a female road trip movie at the same time! Talk about all the stars aligning! And here we are today… #JeeLeZaraa… it only took 3 years to align all our schedules but we stuck together and got it done! This one is to sisterhood… to friendship and to breaking the mould! Can’t wait to get on the road with Aloo and Katty. My heart’s smiling. See you at the movies," she wrote.
