Rivaba Jadeja has claimed that several Indian cricketers indulge in several vices during overseas tours. She stressed, however, that her husband Ravindra Jadeja remains disciplined and free from such vices despite the habits of others in the team.

Rivaba Jadeja, wife of India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, has sparked controversy by alleging that some Indian cricketers indulge in various vices during overseas tours. However, she stressed that her husband has never engaged in any such behaviour.
Speaking at an event, Rivaba alluded to what she described as the lesser-known habits of cricketers, suggesting that players may freely indulge in whatever they choose away from the public eye. She reiterated, however, that her husband has no such habits despite the surrounding environment.

“My husband, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, has to travel to many countries like London, Dubai and Australia to play cricket. Despite this, to this day, he has never touched or engaged in any kind of vice, because he understands his responsibilities. The rest of the team all indulge in vices, but there is no restriction from their families,” said Rivaba at the event.
"Once we progress in life, it’s important to be grounded and remember our cultural roots."
Rivaba’s comments come at a time when Jadeja has grown into one of the senior figures in the national side. Still a mainstay in Tests, the all-rounder is set to represent the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 after ending his long-standing association with the Chennai Super Kings.
Back in 2016, KL Rahul had posted a photograph on his social media handles holding a beer bottle in his hand during the tour of West Indies. The picture instantly went viral, and the BCCI had to direct players to be extra careful while posting on social media. The Board reportedly urged the players to exercise moral responsibility when sharing content online, as they are role models for countless young children around the world. Rahul eventually had to delete the photograph from his social media handles.
Earlier in 2024, the Union Health Ministry approached the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to implement measures preventing athletes from participating in surrogate advertising of tobacco and alcohol products. It recommended that the Board issue clear directives instructing cricketers under its jurisdiction to refrain from any form of surrogate promotion, partnership, or advertisement involving tobacco-related products.
