Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar' grosses ₹600 Cr worldwide. Can it surpass 'Chhaava' & 'Kantara Chapter 1' to become 2025's biggest hit? Analysis inside.
Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar' has made a significant impact at the box office. After its first week, the film had already grossed ₹319 crore worldwide. It gained further momentum during its second weekend, easily surpassing the ₹400 crore and ₹500 crore milestones. After twelve days, 'Dhurandhar' has grossed ₹639 crore globally, positioning it as the third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 so far. Ahead of it are two other major blockbusters from this year: 'Kantara Chapter One' (₹851 crore) and 'Chhaava' (₹808 crore).
While 'Dhurandhar' has already proven its profitability with net earnings close to ₹500 crore, it still lags behind 'Chhaava' and 'Kantara Chapter One'. The production cost for 'Dhurandhar' is reported to be around ₹140 crore, meaning the film has already achieved a profit of approximately 250-260%. 'Chhaava', however, had estimated net earnings of ₹650 crore against a budget of ₹125 crore, resulting in a 420% profit. 'Kantara Chapter One' netted ₹680 crore with a ₹150 crore budget, achieving a 350% profit. For 'Dhurandhar' to surpass 'Chhaava' in profitability, it would need net earnings exceeding ₹725 crore, which translates to a worldwide gross of over ₹950 crore. According to trade experts, the film has the potential to exceed that mark and potentially even reach ₹1000 crore. If it does, it could become the highest-grossing major release of the year.
That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. 'Dhurandhar' faces a challenge in claiming the title of the most profitable Indian film of 2025 overall. That title is currently held by 'Laalo - Krishna Sada Sahaayte', a Gujarati film that was made on a budget of just ₹50 lakh. This film grossed an impressive ₹111 crore, with net earnings exceeding ₹85 crore. This translates to a profit of approximately 17000%. To outdo 'Laalo - Krishna Sada Sahaayte', 'Dhurandhar' would need to earn ₹24000 crore, an amount exceeding the combined earnings of 'Titanic' and 'Avatar 2'.
