iOS 26.2 introduces 'Flash for Alerts,' making notifications more noticeable. Learn how to activate this accessibility feature on your iPhone.
Apple has officially released iOS 26.2, bringing the latest iPhone software to all compatible devices. The update includes several enhancements, such as improved safety alerts, reminder alarms, and AirDrop codes.
Notably, iOS 26.2 also quietly introduces a new feature designed to make notifications more prominent.
Apple has long allowed users to enable the camera flash for notifications. With iOS 26.2, a new "Flash for Alerts" option appears within the Accessibility settings. This feature causes the iPhone's display to briefly light up and pulse when a new notification arrives. The effect is particularly noticeable when the iPhone's Always On Display (AOD) is disabled.
With the Flash for Alerts feature enabled, iPhone users should find it easier to notice incoming notifications, even when their device is silenced.
Here’s how to enable the Flash for Alerts feature in iOS 26.2:
- Ensure your iPhone is updated to iOS 26.2.
- Open the Settings app.
- Select Accessibility.
- Scroll down to the “Hearing” section and tap Audio & Visual.
- Tap Flash for Alerts.
Beyond Flash for Alerts, iOS 26.2 includes other new features. Users can now customize the appearance of the “Liquid Glass” clock on the lock screen, adjusting its opacity via a slider in the settings.
For AirDrop, Apple has added an extra layer of security. The new AirDrop codes feature requires senders to enter a code displayed on the recipient's device when sharing data with unknown contacts.
In the US, iOS 26.2 introduces enhanced safety alerts, providing users with critical information about imminent threats like floods and natural disasters. These alerts include maps of affected areas and links to safety guidance.
Finally, users can now set full-screen alarms for reminders. These alarms will sound even when the iPhone is in silent or Focus mode, provided the reminder is marked as Urgent.
