Instagram is now available on TV, starting with Amazon Fire TV devices. This marks the first time Instagram content has been specifically formatted for television viewing.

Fire TV users can now watch Reels curated into personalized channels. These channels are based on individual interests, spanning categories like music, sports, travel, and trending topics.

The new app supports multiple accounts, allowing each member of a household to enjoy a customized Instagram experience on their television.

According to Aidan Marcuss, Vice President of Fire TV, Amazon aims to provide users with quick access to the best content. He stated his excitement in welcoming Instagram to Fire TV, emphasizing the commitment to pushing entertainment boundaries on larger screens. He also acknowledged the Instagram team for building a great experience, and is eager to see the customer response.

What is Instagram for TV?

The Instagram for TV app focuses on short-form video content from creators, displayed directly on your TV. Users can keep up with new music releases, sports highlights, travel destinations, and trending events, all organized into personalized Reels channels.

Getting Started

To begin, install the Instagram for TV app on your Fire TV device and log in using your Instagram account. The app accommodates up to five accounts, so each family member can receive tailored Reels recommendations. Users also have the option to create a new account specifically for Instagram for TV.

Once logged in, the app offers search functionality to find favorite creators, explore profiles, and delve into preferred topics. Users can also like Reels and view comments and reactions.

Availability

The Instagram for TV app is currently available in the U.S. on select Amazon Fire TV devices. Compatible devices include Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st and 2nd Gen), Fire TV 2-Series, Fire TV 4-Series, and Fire TV Omni QLED Series. Download the app from the Amazon Appstore to start watching Instagram Reels on your TV.
