Synopsis
IndiGo announced travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 for severely impacted customers following major flight disruptions. The airline will also compensate passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure with Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. Refunds for cancelled flights have been initiated, with most already processed.
Announcing smooth operations after days of flight disruptions, IndiGo on Thursday announced that it will offer travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to customers who were 'severely impacted' during the crisis. Along with this, the airline will provide compensation of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 to those customers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure time.
Customers would be able to avail the travel vouchers for any future IndiGo journey for the next 12 months. The government-guided compulsory compensation will depend on the block time of the flight.

In a statement issued on Thursday, IndiGo affirmed that all necessary refunds for cancelled flights have been initiated, most of which have already been reflected in customers' accounts, with the remainder following shortly. The crisis-struck airline has also initiated refunds for those who booked through the travel partner platform.
"IndiGo regrettably acknowledges that part of our customers travelling on December 3/4/5 were stranded for many hours at certain airports and number of them were severely impacted due to congestion," the airline said in a statement.

India's largest airline IndiGo cancelled nearly 220 flights on Wednesday with more flights expected to be cancelled today. The flight chaos, which began on December 2, extended for almost ten days, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded on airports for hours.
Earlier on Thursday, IndiGo announced that it is preparing to run more than 1,950 flights today, carrying an estimated 300,000 passengers, as the airline continues restoring its network following last week’s massive operational meltdown. The troubled carrier further informed that its schedule has held steady for three consecutive days, with no same-day cancellations except a handful caused by weather or other unavoidable factors. On-time performance has also gone back to usual "IndiGo standards", the airline noted.
"IndiGo continues to strengthen its operations, improving its services day by day to now operating 1,900+ flights that seamlessly connect all 138 destinations across our network. Our commitment to operational excellence has led to significant efficiency gains, and our On-time Performance has been restored to top-tier industry standards," the airline said in a press release.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday summoned IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers along with the carrier’s top officials at 3 pm. The aviation watchdog has demanded a list of updates from the officials, including status on flight restoration, recruitment plans, updates on refunds process and baggage return, effective information dissemination and fare policy.
As per the notice, “The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed CEO of M/s Indigo to present comprehensive data and updates relating to the recent operational disruptions. The airline has been instructed to submit the complete report and appear DGCA on 11 December 2025 at 1500 hrs. CEO along with Senior officials from all relevant departments has been instructed to attend the meeting.”
