India’s T20 World Cup 2026 jersey: Rohit Sharma unveils Men in Blue’s new kit during IND vs SA Raipur ODI
The jersey unveiling ceremony, held during the mid-innings break of the second India vs South Africa ODI in Raipur, featured former India captain Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma alongside BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.
Rohit, who spearheaded India to their first T20 World Cup win in 17 years in 2024, was recently named the Brand Ambassador of the 2026 edition. India’s current T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, missed the ceremony because he was in Lucknow playing for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Simultaneously, vice-captain Shubman Gill was absent as he is undergoing rehabilitation for a neck injury at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The new jersey is deep blue with vibrant orange side panels. Its design introduces two key changes: the tricolour moves to the collar, and vertical blue stripes are added to the front for textural detail.
“It’s been a long journey. We won our first World Cup in 2007, and we had to wait more than 15 years to win the next one. It’s been a long road with plenty of ups and downs, but it felt great to lift the trophy again. Now, with the World Cup happening in India, it’s going to be an exciting tournament. My best wishes are always with the team, and I’m sure everyone will be behind them, supporting them and doing their best,” said Rohit at the jersey launch ceremony during the mid-innings break.
Running from February 7 to March 8, the upcoming T20 World Cup will be a 20-team event, welcoming debutants such as Italy.
