Hardik Pandya has etched his name in the record books, eclipsing Yuvraj Singh's long-held distinction. During the fifth T20I against South Africa, Pandya accomplished a feat unmatched by any other Indian cricketer: recording the most instances of a half-century combined with at least one wicket in the same T20 International.

The match saw India post a formidable total, thanks in part to an explosive partnership between Pandya and Tilak Varma. After openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma provided a strong start, Pandya and Varma combined to add 105 runs for the fourth wicket, setting the stage for a dominant finish.

Pandya's blistering innings saw him smash 63 runs off merely 25 deliveries, including five boundaries and five towering sixes, achieving a remarkable strike rate of 252.00. While his bowling figures showed 41 runs conceded in three overs, he secured the vital wicket of Dewald Brevis, who had threatened to alter the game's trajectory with a rapid 31 off 17 balls.

Now, Pandya boasts four such performances in T20Is for India, surpassing Yuvraj's previous record by one. Virat Kohli has also accomplished this feat twice, once against Pakistan in the 2012 T20 World Cup and again versus the West Indies in the 2016 edition. Shivam Dube has achieved it twice as well.

Returning to the international stage, Pandya concluded the series as India's third-highest scorer, accumulating 142 runs across three innings at an average of 71.00 and an impressive strike rate of 186.84. This included two half-centuries that contributed significantly to India's victories. Additionally, he claimed three wickets at an average of 38.00, with his best figures being 1/16, although his economy rate exceeded 10.

In the match itself, South Africa's decision to field first after winning the toss saw India's openers, Samson (37 off 22) and Sharma (34 off 21), establish a quickfire 63-run partnership. Despite a brief slowdown, Tilak (73 off 42) and Pandya propelled India to a total of 231/5, with Corbin Bosch proving the most effective bowler, taking 2/44.

In response, South Africa's chase of 232 was fueled by Quinton de Kock's swift 65 off 35 balls. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. following Brevis's dismissal, wickets fell at regular intervals. Despite a promising beginning, the visitors were ultimately limited to 201/8, resulting in a 30-run defeat. Jasprit Bumrah (2/17) and Varun Chakravarthy (4/53) spearheaded India's bowling attack.

For his all-round performance, Hardik Pandya was named Player of the Match, while Varun Chakravarthy received the Player of the Series award as India clinched the series with a 3-1 victory, showcasing their dominance on home soil.
