Shubman Gill is sidelined for the rest of the T20I series against South Africa due to a toe injury. Axar Patel is also out. Read the details.
Shubman Gill, the Indian vice-captain, will miss the remaining two T20I matches against South Africa. According to PTI sources, the young batter sustained a toe injury during a training session.
Meanwhile, the start of the 4th T20I has been delayed at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Fog has reduced visibility, and officials will conduct another inspection at 7:30 PM IST after an initial check proved inconclusive.
Gill's injury comes at a time when he has been struggling for runs in the T20I format. Sanju Samson is likely to replace him as opener. Samson has been waiting for a chance to bat at the top of the order.
In more team news, Axar Patel is also unavailable for the rest of the series due to health concerns. Shahbaz Ahmed has been added to the squad as his replacement and was seen practicing before the toss.
