South African spinner Simon Harmer wins ICC Men's Player of the Month for November 2025 after a dominant Test series against India.
South African spinner Simon Harmer has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for November 2025, recognizing his outstanding performance in the ICC World Test Championship series against India.
Harmer's impressive performance edged out Bangladesh's Taijul Islam and Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz for the coveted title, marking the first time he has received this honor.
The award follows Harmer's dominant showing in the Test series, where he also earned the Player of the Series award. He played a crucial role in South Africa’s historic 2-0 victory, their first Test series win in India since 2000.
"It’s a privilege to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for November," Harmer said. "Playing for my country is a dream come true, and any accolades that come as a result are a bonus."
He added, "I share this award with my teammates, coaches, and support staff and dedicate it to my family, who allow me to pursue my dream, even when it means leaving them at home. It’s a privilege to be part of the Proteas team, and I hope to enjoy many more successful seasons with this remarkable group of people."
During the first innings of the opening Test, Harmer took four wickets, limiting India’s lead to just 30 runs. He then secured another four wickets in the second innings, contributing significantly to India being bowled out for 93 while chasing 124. These efforts helped South Africa achieve their first Test victory on Indian soil since 2010.
The 36-year-old continued his exceptional form into the second match, claiming nine wickets as South Africa clinched a historic series win. His three wickets in the first innings were instrumental in securing a significant 288-run lead for the visitors. In the second innings, Harmer delivered his best performance of the series, baffling the Indian batsmen with his spin. His figures of 6/37 propelled South Africa to a dominant 408-run victory.
Simon Harmer concluded the two-Test series with 17 wickets at an average of 8.94 and an economy of 5.66. His remarkable performances not only sealed the series sweep but also propelled South Africa to second place in the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 standings.
