Ahmed Hussain's 65 and Abdul Subhan's 4-31 propelled Pakistan U-19s to a 70-run victory over UAE, securing their place in the Asia Cup semi-final.
Pakistan's Under-19 team secured their place in the U-19 Asia Cup semi-finals after defeating the UAE in a crucial match. After opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a total of 241 for 9, thanks in large part to Ahmed Hussain's patient innings of 65 runs. In response, the UAE Under-19s were bowled out for 171, with Abdul Subhan taking 4 wickets for 31 runs.
Hussain's 65 came off 91 balls and anchored the Pakistan innings, with six of the top seven batsmen contributing at least 20 runs each. His highest partnership was 52 runs with Hamza Zahoor, who contributed 42. This partnership helped Pakistan recover after they were 160 for 5 in the 36th over, pushing them past the 200 mark. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. after Hussain was dismissed, Pakistan lost four late wickets.
Pakistan scored 117 runs in their final 21 overs, building on a foundation of 124 runs in the initial 29 overs. Yug Sharma picked up three wickets for the UAE, including two in the final overs. Despite Sharma's efforts, Pakistan's total proved too much for the UAE.
The UAE began their chase positively, with openers Ayaan Misbah and Yayin Kiran Rai putting on 42 runs in the first seven overs. After Subhan dismissed both Rai and Zainullah Rehmani in quick succession, Misbah and Prithvi Madhu steadied the ship. Misbah was eventually run out for 77 off 74 balls after a 58-run partnership in the 24th over.
At 142 for 3 in the 31st over, the UAE looked to be in a relatively stable position. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. they then collapsed, losing 7 wickets for just 29 runs. This collapse ended any hopes of an upset victory. Subhan's impressive bowling performance, taking 4 for 31, earned him the Player of the Match award as Pakistan advanced to the semi-finals with a 70-run win.
