Hundreds of Thousands in Ukraine Without Power After Russian Strikes, Zelenskyy Reports

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports extensive power outages across multiple Ukrainian regions following recent Russian missile and drone attacks. Energy infrastructure targeted.
Following a series of Russian missile and drone strikes targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that hundreds of thousands of citizens are without power.
In a social media post Sunday morning, Zelenskyy stated that crews are working to restore electricity, heating, and water services across affected regions. The most impacted areas include Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kherson, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Sumy and Dnipro.
Ukrainian officials have reported that Russia's recent attacks have increasingly focused on energy and critical infrastructure, especially as winter approaches.
Zelenskyy said that Russia aims to prolong the conflict and inflict maximum harm on the Ukrainian people. He reported that Russia launched over 1,500 strike drones, roughly 900 aerial bombs, and 46 missiles into Ukraine in the past week alone.
Ukraine's air force reported that overnight attacks continued into Sunday, with Russia launching one missile and 138 drones. Air defense systems reportedly downed or suppressed 110 of the drones. According to the air force, the missile and 10 drones that got through impacted six locations.
Russia's Defense Ministry stated that its forces downed 141 Ukrainian drones overnight into Sunday morning, in addition to 143 more.
