India's chances of defending their T20 World Cup title have received a significant boost with Varun Chakaravarthy achieving a career-best rating as the top bowler in the ICC Men's T20I rankings.
The mystery spinner's impressive performance in the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa has propelled him to the No. 1 position. Chakaravarthy now boasts a rating of 818 points. His crucial wickets in the series have strengthened India's World Cup preparations.
Chakaravarthy's current rating gives him a significant lead of 119 points over New Zealand's Jacob Duffy, who holds second place with 699 points. The 34-year-old has also entered the top 10 for highest ratings ever achieved by a T20I bowler.
Arshdeep Singh has also seen improvement, climbing four places to 16th in the T20I bowler rankings after a strong showing against South Africa. In batting, Tilak Varma's consistent performance has lifted him two places to fourth in the T20I rankings.
Other notable ranking movements include Marco Jansen (up 14 places to 25th), Lungi Ngidi (up 11 places to 44th), and Ottneil Baartman, who has entered the top 70. Pakistan's Saim Ayub remains the top T20I all-rounder, while India's Shivam Dube has moved up two spots to 16th.
