Yami Gautam shares her husband Aditya Dhar's supportive reaction to her performance in 'Haq,' and discusses balancing motherhood and her career.
Yami Gautam recently discussed her experiences as a new mother and how she balances work and family life, including her husband Aditya Dhar's support. She revealed his reaction after watching her latest film, 'Haq.'
In an interview with Mid-day India, Yami emphasized Aditya's active role as a father and his encouragement for her to continue pursuing her career. "When he saw Haq he said some of the nicest things to me," Yami said, noting that she values his feedback on her performances. "Being a mother is a blessing in my life but I must work as I want to," she added.
Yami also addressed the initial challenges of returning to work so soon after giving birth. "Initially, there was a feeling of mom-guilt (because I was) resuming work so soon." That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. she shared that her mother advised her not to let motherhood hold her back from her career and independence, something she had worked hard to achieve.
Yami and Aditya's relationship began during the production of the 2019 film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike,' where Aditya was the director and Yami played a significant role. Their friendship gradually deepened, and they married in June 2021. In 2024, they welcomed their son, Vedavid.
'Haq,' directed by Suparn Varma, features Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in leading roles, alongside Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Husain, Aseem Hattangady, and Vartika Singh. The film is inspired by the real-life legal battle of Shah Bano Begum, whose 1985 Supreme Court case granted divorced Muslim women the right to maintenance.
