Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson have just launched a new top-spec variant of its co-developed X440 motorcycle. Called X440 T, this new variant has been priced at Rs 2.79 lakh (Ex-sh), positioned above Vivid and S variants. Let’s take a closer look at everything that is new with Harley-Davidson X440 T.
Harley-Davidson X440 T Launch
With the new revised GST 2.0 reforms, the motorcycles above 350cc displacement class have been hit with higher taxes. Hero and Harley’s strategy to navigate these taxes is to retain previous prices and bring new tech, features, appearance and excitement with the X440 and boost its appeal further.
That is exactly what X440 T brings to the table with its revised rear-end design that makes it infinitely more attractive than before. Especially at the rear with its infamous gap between rear fender and wheel. The new tail section is complemented by new grab rails and four attractive colours with revised graphics – Pearl White, Vivid Black, Pearl Red and Pearl Blue.
With the new graphics and colours along with its revised rear-end design, Harley-Davidson X440 T is a stronger proposition to buyers than it used to be. With the launch of X440 T, the base Denim variant and its wire-spoke wheels are phased out, making alloys standard. Other notable element with X440 T is its bar-end mirrors.
New Features
The second part of the equation is to make it more appealing to tech-savvy audiences. In that regard, Harley-Davidson X440 T comes with a ride-by-wire throttle with this motorcycle for the first time and two riding modes (Road, Rain). Other notable additions with X440 T are switchable ABS and switchable Traction Control.
Harley-Davidson has also added a panic braking feature with X440 T where turn indicators flash automatically under panic braking. The cycle parts have been retained as they were. USD front forks, rear twin shockers, 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, single disc brake setup at both ends with dual-channel ABS and others are carried forward.
The same 440cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine has been carried forward which is capable of generating 27 bhp of peak power and 38 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. With added equipment, weight has gone up by 1.5 kg to 192 kg and the features like TFT instrument cluster, LED lighting and others have been retained too.
