Akshaye Khanna's understated reaction to the widespread appreciation for his role in 'Dhurandhar' has been revealed by casting director Mukesh Chhabra.
Chhabra, in a conversation with Miss Malini, lauded Khanna's unique acting style, emphasizing that he brings an original and captivating element to every role. According to Chhabra, Khanna's performance is so convincing that it's easy to become completely engrossed.
Chhabra shared that when he spoke to Khanna about the film's success, the actor remained unfazed. Khanna simply responded, “Haan, mazaa aaya.” Chhabra also offered insights into Khanna's dedication, noting his meticulous preparation on set. He observed that Khanna carefully maintains his focus, thoroughly reviews his scenes, and consistently arrives prepared, which ultimately translates into his captivating performances.
In 'Dhurandhar,' Khanna portrays the gangster Rehman Dakait, and his performance has generated considerable buzz since the film's release. Many viewers have even suggested that he stole the spotlight from Ranveer Singh, the film's protagonist. A brief dance sequence to the song Fa9la, during one of Khanna's introductory scenes, has also become a viral sensation.
Despite the accolades and the film's success, Akshaye Khanna is reportedly maintaining a low profile, spending time at his Alibaug home, where he recently held a Vastu Shanti hawan.
'Dhurandhar,' directed by Aditya Dhar, has achieved significant milestones since its release. The spy action thriller has broken records, achieving the best second-weekend performance for an Indian film to date. It has also become the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 in just twelve days, surpassing 'Saiyaara,' 'Coolie,' and 'War 2.' The film’s global box office earnings currently trail only Vicky Kaushal’s 'Chhaava' and Rishab Shetty’s 'Kantara: Chapter 1,' with a total of ₹634 crore.
