The Paladin class is making its way to Diablo IV with the pre-purchase of the Lord of Hatred expansion. Players can look forward to unique skills, the Oath System, and the ability to transform using angelic powers.
To celebrate, the Goblin Greetings holiday event is offering festive rewards.
Since the launch of Diablo IV, the community has expressed a clear desire for the Paladin class, and now that request has been answered. Players can prepare to wield divine power as a beacon of hope in the Eternal Conflict.
The Paladin is presented as a holy champion who uses faith as both a weapon and a shield. As devout followers of the Light, Paladins channel divine energy through auras, sacred conjurations, and angelic transformations.
**Honoring the Legacy**
The Paladin has been built to honor its legacy while fitting into Diablo IV’s modern style. Classic skills like Zeal are returning with a reimagined twist, rebalanced for combat and visuals. The Paladin is designed to be the embodiment of faith—a conduit of holy magic, divine wrath, and iconic knighthood.
As Mephisto’s shadow threatens Sanctuary, the Paladin is answering the call. Bound by sacred oaths, this warrior turns every battlefield into consecrated ground. Mechanics such as Auras and Holy Conjurations pay homage to previous Paladin iterations, but the developers didn't stop there. Inspired by Tyrael, Angelic Transformation has been introduced, allowing players to ascend into a divine avatar.
When designing the Paladin, the focus was on three core elements:
- The Indomitable Guardian:** An unwavering defender of the innocent.
- Divine Empowerment:** Medieval weaponry—swords, shields, and holy hammers—infused with celestial energy.
- Holy Conduit:** A living channel of heavenly power, brought to life through sound design and animations.
**Combat, Skills, and Oaths**
The Paladin is the quintessential "sword and board" class, designed for players who enjoy tactical combat with a divine edge. Players can expect abilities like Blessed Hammer, Blessed Shield, Condemn, Zeal, and Heaven’s Fury, along with new skills that channel celestial energy.
To enhance customization, the Oath System is being introduced as a unique class mechanic, featuring four thematic paths:
- Juggernaut:** Turns defense into offense with Shield Bash and the Fortress ability.
- Zealot:** Emphasizes frenzied melee combat with an updated Zeal skill and Zenith.
- Judicator:** Delivers judgment with sacred conjurations like Consecration and Heaven’s Fury.
- Disciple:** Fully embraces the divine connection with angelic transformation, unleashing Spears of the Heavens and Arbiter Form.
The Paladin represents the enduring presence of the Light, even in the darkest times. Whether wielding a blessed hammer or taking flight as an angelic arbiter, players can stand against the darkness. A full Paladin cinematic is available, along with details about the pre-purchase of Lord of Hatred.
Additionally, the Goblin Greetings event is bringing together March of the Goblins, Gift of the Tree, and holiday-themed cosmetic gifts. For a limited time, Holiday Goblins will replace treasure goblins, with six variants tied to individual kills. Defeating these goblins progresses players along a reward track, with new reputation tiers boosting drop rates. Players may also encounter Fancy Old Fedric, who rewards players with a Mythic item.
Sanctuary has called for a hero, and the Paladin has arrived. Will you answer the call?
