Cameron Green clarifies he's available to bowl in the IPL 2026, despite being listed as a batter in the auction. He blames an administrative error.
Cameron Green has confirmed he will be available to bowl in the IPL 2026, despite some confusion arising from his auction listing. When the list of players for the IPL 2026 auction was released, Green was surprisingly categorized as a batter only. This led to speculation that the 26-year-old might be focusing solely on his batting, potentially to attract teams prioritizing specialist batters. Some reports even suggested fitness concerns were limiting his bowling.
That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. Green, who has set his base price at the maximum INR 2 Crore and is expected to be a highly sought-after player, clarified the situation. He explained that his listing as a batter was simply due to an administrative error by his manager.
"I don't know if my manager will like to hear this, but it was a stuff-up on his end," Green said. "He didn't mean to say batter. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box, so it was pretty funny how it's all played out, but it's actually a stuff-up on his end. I'll be good to bowl."
When asked if he plans to watch the auction, Green said he would. "I'm sure I will be, with a few other guys. They're always good fun to watch. It's a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it's always been fun to watch."
Meanwhile, Green also addressed his bowling workload in the ongoing Ashes series, stating that he expects to bowl more overs in the remaining Tests compared to the first two, where he bowled a total of only 16 overs. "Any overs you can bank up your sleeve in the early games will be beneficial later."
