Avatar: Fire and Ash pre-sales in China are strong, but trailing behind Demon Slayer and Zootopia 2, while surpassing Jurassic World Rebirth.
James Cameron's *Avatar: Fire and Ash* is generating significant buzz, reflected in its pre-sales performance in China and globally. While the film's pre-sales are steadily increasing, it's currently behind *Zootopia 2* and *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* in daily pre-sales figures. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. *Avatar 3* has already surpassed *Jurassic World Rebirth* in pre-sales within China.
Recent reviews on Rotten Tomatoes give *Avatar: Fire and Ash* a 71% rating, based on 150 critic reviews. While praised for its visual effects, some critics note that the film mirrors the narrative structure of its predecessors, which they find somewhat repetitive. This score is slightly lower than the 76% rating received by *Avatar: The Way of Water*.
**China Pre-Sales Data**
According to trade analyst Luiz Fernando, *Avatar: Fire and Ash* has grossed over $7.5 million in China during its first four days of pre-sales (December 17-21). With two days of pre-sales remaining, the film is projected to reach $10 million in China. The breakdown is as follows:
- Wednesday (early screenings): $350k
- Thursday (previews): $810k
- Friday (opening day): $2.8 million
- Saturday (day 2): $2.7 million
- Sunday (day 3): $1.1 million
- Total: $7.5 million**
In comparison, *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* achieved $11.6 million and *Zootopia 2* reached $13.4 million in their first four days of pre-sales. As of day four, *Avatar 3* has 119,000 screenings open for booking, second only to *Zootopia 2*'s 135,000.
*Avatar: Fire and Ash* could potentially exceed the $57.1 million opening of *Avatar: The Way Of Water*. It also has the potential to challenge *Godzilla vs. Kong*'s $69.2 million, potentially placing it among the top three post-COVID Hollywood openings. The final result will depend on audience reactions from early screenings and previews, beginning December 19. Currently, *F9* and *Zootopia 2* remain in the lead.
