Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar' has shattered box office expectations, raking in a massive Rs 27 crore on its opening day. This marks Ranveer Singh's biggest opener ever, surpassing previous hits like 'Padmaavat' and 'Simmba'. The film's strong performance, despite a wide release alongside 'Tere Ishk Mein', suggests a promising weekend ahead, with projections aiming for a Rs 100 crore opening weekend.
Aditya Dhar's 'Dhurandhar' released in cinemas today amidst much anticipation. While he film was expected to have a good opening as the advance booking was good, it has surpassed expectations. The film had a wide release despite the fact that 'Tere Ishk Mein' is doing well in theatres at the moment. The film had already made around Rs 9 crore in advance bookings and with spot bookings, it was expected to make a total of Rs 15-20 crore on day 1. However, the film has gone beyond that. The film starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna had 13,000 shows. The film as made Rs 27 crore net in India on the first day, according to Sacnilk. With this, it has become Ranveer's biggest opener ever beating films like 'Padmaavat', 'Simmba', 'Gully Boy' and 'Gunday'. 'Padmaavat' had seen significant growth on second day. On the opening day, it had made Rs 24 crore including the paid previews and that was in the pre-pandemic era. Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty's 'Simmba' had made around Rs 20.72 crore on day 1. Now in the post pandemic era, 'Dhurandhar' managed to open at Rs 27 crore which is huge. As far as Ranveer's post pandemic movies are concerned, '83' had made Rs 12 crore on the opening day while 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' made Rs 11.1 crore on day 1. The reviews for the film also look good and the film will hopefully see growth on Saturday and Sunday, due to word of mouth and holiday. In the best case scenario, it should cross the Rs 100 crore mark over the opening weekend. Meanwhile, as 'Dhurandhar' released, 'Tere Ishk Mein' saw a drop on Friday, and made Rs 3.65 crore.
