Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar' surpasses expectations, becoming a global phenomenon and redefining the overseas potential for Indian films. Analysis of its box office success.

Ranveer Singh's latest film, 'Dhurandhar,' directed by Aditya Dhar and co-starring Akshaye Khanna, is making waves in the global entertainment industry. While experiencing a predictable dip in domestic box office collections on its third Monday, the film continues to shatter records internationally, demonstrating the growing appeal and market for Indian cinema worldwide.

After a strong third weekend, 'Dhurandhar' saw its collections dip below Rs 20 crore for the first time since its release, earning approximately Rs 16.5 crore on Monday. This represents a 57.14% drop from the weekend's momentum. Despite this domestic slowdown, the film's overall performance remains robust, having grossed an estimated Rs 572.25 crore net in India alone.

More impressively, 'Dhurandhar' has outperformed the new Hollywood release, 'Avatar: Fire and Ash,' by a considerable margin. While 'Avatar' managed to secure approximately Rs 8.50 crore, 'Dhurandhar' nearly doubled that figure, underscoring the shifting dynamics of audience preferences and the increasing popularity of Bollywood films even against major international releases.

'Dhurandhar' has cemented its place as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 worldwide, surpassing Rishab Shetty’s 'Kantara Chapter 1,' which earned Rs 852 crore gross. The film's worldwide gross has exceeded Rs 872.25 crore, a testament to its widespread appeal and effective distribution strategies.

One of the most significant achievements of 'Dhurandhar' is its performance in the international market. The film has become the highest-grossing Indian film of the year overseas, collecting approximately Rs 186 crore through its third Sunday. This surpasses Rajinikanth’s 'Coolie,' which had an entire overseas run of Rs 180.50 crore. This milestone signals a new era for Indian films, proving they can compete and even outperform established international productions in foreign markets. With these numbers, 'Dhurandhar' is heading towards the Rs 200 crore overseas milestone and is set to become Ranveer Singh's first Rs 200 crore international grosser.

Ranveer Singh's career has seen consistent growth, and 'Dhurandhar' marks a high point, solidifying his position as a bankable star with international appeal. The film's success underscores the importance of strong storytelling, effective marketing, and strategic distribution in reaching a global audience. Aditya Dhar's direction has also been pivotal, showcasing a blend of action and thriller elements that resonate with diverse viewers. The film's success is not just a win for Ranveer Singh but also for the Indian film industry, demonstrating its growing influence and potential on the global stage.
