Krishnamachari Srikkanth suggests Chennai Super Kings should bid for New Zealand's Michael Bracewell at the IPL 2026 auction. Details inside!
Former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should make a strong play for New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell in the upcoming IPL 2026 mini-auction.
CSK, boasting five IPL titles, enters the auction in Abu Dhabi with a substantial Rs 43.40 crore purse, second only to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who possess Rs 64.30 crore.
Srikkanth, speaking on his YouTube channel, emphasized Bracewell's all-around capabilities, stating that the 34-year-old would bring valuable balance to CSK's middle order.
According to The Indian Express, Srikkanth said, "CSK already have a gun lineup till 4 with Gaikwad, Samson, Aayush Mhatre, and Urvil Patel. So they won't be too worried about their batting. If I were in the CSK management, I would go for a guy like Michael Bracewell. Everyone is underestimating him. He has scored a brilliant century against India in Hyderabad. He can bowl good off-spin and is a left-hander who can tonk the ball. He is a good finisher."
Srikkanth further added, "Not many are talking about Michael Bracewell. Everyone keeps saying Livingstone, but the truth is, if Bracewell is encouraged, he'll do well. It is where someone like Dhoni can groom him into a fantastic all-rounder."
Bracewell has limited IPL experience, having played only one season so far. In 2023, he appeared in five games for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), CSK's rival, scoring 58 runs and taking six wickets. He has registered for the upcoming auction at his base price.
