b.well Connected Health has released the first SDK for building healthcare AI assistants. The SDK allows organizations to create AI tools using patient data.

Baltimore, MD – December 18, 2025 – b.well Connected Health, a digital health platform specializing in AI-driven consumer experiences, has announced the release of its Health AI SDK (Software Development Kit). This first-of-its-kind SDK is designed to empower organizations to develop AI assistants capable of understanding a patient's complete medical record and streamlining tasks such as finding care, managing prescriptions, and scheduling appointments through conversational AI.

As companies increasingly look to implement AI chat and agent experiences for consumers, b.well's SDK provides a secure, accurate, and scalable foundation for bringing these solutions to market. The SDK is currently available.

With connectivity to over 2.2 million healthcare providers, more than 300 health plans, and a wide range of data sources, including pharmacies, labs, devices, payers, and patient-generated data, the Health AI SDK consolidates real-world health information into a unified, AI-ready dataset. This allows AI assistants to deliver tailored guidance based on a consumer's medical history and perform actions on their behalf, like booking appointments or transferring prescriptions.

According to Imran Qureshi, Chief AI and Technology Officer at b.well Connected Health, the b.well SDK for Health AI handles back-end data and API integration. This allows health systems, insurers, life sciences companies, pharmacies, and other organizations to efficiently, accurately, and securely build AI technology. This technology can then move beyond simply providing answers to recommending specific actions, all supported by clinical evidence and detailed medical history.

A core component of the SDK is b.well's proprietary 13-step Data Refinery. This process cleanses, reconciles, standardizes, summarizes, embeds, and enriches fragmented data, resulting in a comprehensive and clinically sound dataset for LLMs (Large Language Models). By compressing and refining health data, the SDK can reduce LLM processing costs by up to 10x, making large-scale healthcare AI more affordable.

In addition to cost, organizations have faced challenges in building AI assistants that can safely manage the complexities of healthcare data. These complexities include unstructured clinical notes, intricate medical terminology, and multiple trade names or administration routes for the same medication, while still adhering to evidence-based guidelines. The b.well Health AI SDK addresses these challenges with algorithms based on standard medical vocabularies and AI-native text-embedding search across unstructured content like clinical notes, care plans, and discharge instructions. This leads to more accurate, context-aware, and clinically aligned responses.

Kristen Valdes, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of b.well Connected Health, believes that AI assistants will become as common as websites and apps in healthcare. She states that organizations will differentiate themselves with assistants built on reliable foundations that clinicians and consumers can trust, enabling informed recommendations for proactive health management.

The SDK capabilities are supported by b.well's commitment to security and compliance. The SDK is HITRUST-certified and aligned with CMS and NIST guidelines for responsible AI.

For organizations seeking to build upon b.well's infrastructure, the SDK brings the full power of the b.well platform to whitelabeled AI assistants and chat solutions. For those preferring not to build their own interface, the SDK includes a secure, embeddable chatbot UI for Android, iOS, and web applications.
