Bukayo Saka admits he was puzzled by Gabriel Jesus' subdued reaction after Arsenal's dramatic, late victory over Wolves in the Premier League.
Bukayo Saka played a crucial role in Arsenal's dramatic victory over Wolves at the Emirates Stadium, but the England international admitted he was left puzzled by one of his teammate's reactions after the late winner.
The Arsenal winger revealed his confusion regarding Gabriel Jesus's lack of celebration following the decisive goal against Wolves. Arsenal secured a 2-1 win against the Premier League's bottom club to continue their push near the top of the table.
Arsenal initially took the lead due to a Sam Johnstone own goal. Wolves later equalized through Tolu Arokodare, but Mikel Arteta's team found a late winner when Yerson Mosquera inadvertently headed Saka's cross into his own net, sealing the victory.
Saka admitted that he initially thought Jesus had scored the winning goal and was perplexed by the Brazilian forward's muted reaction. "It was an amazing feeling to be fair," Saka said after the game. "I didn't know why Gabby [Jesus] wasn't celebrating. I thought he scored, but I think it was an own goal. Still, it was an amazing feeling to win in the last minute."
He also reflected on Arsenal's resilience: "It's been us that have conceded in the last minute on a few occasions this season, so tonight it's nice that we're on the other side of it. That shows the character that we have and that we're not going to give up to the end."
