Brasília – Legislation passed by Brazilian lawmakers could shorten the prison term for former President Jair Bolsonaro, who was convicted of attempting a coup following his loss in the 2022 election.
The Brazilian Federal Senate approved the measure on Wednesday. If it withstands an anticipated veto, Bolsonaro, who is 70 years old, might be moved from prison to house arrest as early as 2028.
