A woman reported receiving unsettling messages from a Zomato delivery partner after a late-night delivery, raising safety concerns about customer data.
A woman has raised concerns about her safety after allegedly receiving unsettling messages from a Zomato delivery driver following a late-night food delivery. She shared her experience on Reddit, explaining that the incident occurred after the driver arrived around 10:30 p.m.
According to the woman, after she received her order, the delivery person sent her messages through the app, including “Hi” and “Bahut quit ho,” which translates to “very cute.” She stated that she immediately closed her gate after taking the delivery. She also noticed the order remained marked as 'not delivered' for nearly 20 minutes after which she received the messages.
She believes this incident highlights a significant safety issue, especially for women, as delivery personnel have access to customers' addresses and contact information. The woman also reported that she has filed a complaint with Zomato and is currently awaiting a response from the company.
Netizens React
The woman's Reddit post, including screenshots of the messages, quickly gained traction and sparked reactions from other users. Many urged her to escalate the issue with Zomato's customer support and to publicize the incident on social media platforms to ensure appropriate action is taken.
Other users discussed the possible intent behind the driver's messages. Some suggested the message may have been misinterpreted, while many others agreed that such messages were inappropriate regardless of the intention.
One user commented, “Escalate this to customer support. Post on X and Instagram tagging Zomato. When this reaches to the higher authorities, they will surely take this up and take necessary actions against him.”
Another user speculated, “He actually did it so legally he can make an excuse, my guess.”
A third user added, “Pathetic! Sorry this happened to you. I know this is not the solution but maybe just wear a mask while taking these deliveries. It's obviously not the best approach but you can't change these creeps overnight. I'd suggest making a post on X as well and tag zomato and even your local police.”
