The Mahindra Scorpio N, a best-selling SUV, has been spotted undergoing testing in Chennai. A potential launch is expected in Q1 2026 after the XUV 7XO.
Mahindra, a leading SUV manufacturer in India, is known for the robust builds and performance of vehicles like the Scorpio, Thar, and XUV700. It appears Mahindra is now developing an upgraded version of its best-selling SUV, potentially launching it after the debut of the upcoming XUV 7XO.
Mahindra Scorpio N Spotted Testing
The Mahindra Scorpio N, along with the Scorpio Classic, has been a top-selling SUV for the company. A test mule of the Scorpio N was recently observed undergoing testing near Chennai. While the Scorpio N Pik Up has been sighted previously, this marks only the second time the standard Scorpio N SUV test vehicle has been spotted. The test vehicle was heavily camouflaged, obscuring many details; however, some cosmetic updates are anticipated for the Scorpio N as part of this refresh. These may include redesigned front and rear bumpers, new DRLs, and an updated grille, along with other minor visual tweaks.
While the test mule featured the same wheels as the current Scorpio N, it's expected that Mahindra might offer larger 19-inch alloy wheels with a new design to further enhance the SUV's rugged appearance. Interior changes are also possible, with speculation suggesting a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and instrument cluster, similar to those found in the Thar Roxx. Additional potential upgrades include ventilated rear seats and a powered co-passenger seat. Industry sources suggest a possible launch in the first quarter of 2026, following the release of the XUV 7XO.
Engine Details
Major changes to the engine options are unlikely for the updated Mahindra Scorpio N. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. offering the more powerful diesel engine from the XUV700 in the updated Scorpio N would be a welcome addition. Currently, the Scorpio N offers a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine (200bhp & 380Nm of torque) and a 2.2-liter diesel engine (130bhp & 300Nm or 172bhp & 400Nm). The diesel version also has an AWD option. The updated Scorpio N is expected to be priced between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 30.50 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
