Bengaluru Woman Loses Rs 32 Crore in Digital Arrest Scam with 187 Bank Transfers

A 57‐year‐old Bengaluru software engineer was duped of nearly Rs 32 crore in a six‐month “digital arrest” scam. Fraudsters posing as CBI officers kept her under constant Skype surveillance, coerced her into 187 bank transfers, and issued fake clearance letters before vanishing. Police have registered a case and launched a probe into one of the city’s most sophisticated cyber frauds.
