Bavarian Football Works
FC Bayern has come a long way since
Vincent Kompany is arguably the best coach that Bayern Munich has hired since Pep Guardiola, and his employment has paid dividends as proven by the success of the team since. Speaking to the club’s in-house magazine, Säbener 51 (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia), the Belgian coach recalled his first match in charge: a 3-2 win over Wolfsburg.
“In that first game, we were 2-1 down, came back, won 3-2 - and the substitutes made the difference,” Kompany recalled. “That’s exactly what I want from day one to the last day: that we always believe we’ll get our moment, even if things aren’t going perfectly. Everything else happened step by step. Through hard work, learning from mistakes, creating clarity for the players - and above all, maintaining calm and stability. It was always calm and stable in our dressing room, even after defeats. That has sustained us to this day. And it will continue to sustain us. If things don’t go our way at times, we know how we can improve as a result.”
The Bavarians have looked much better this season, and they’ll look better once Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies come back from injury.
