Leaks surrounding the Avengers: Doomsday trailer reveal focus on Doctor Doom, the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.
Details about the marketing rollout for Marvel’s *Avengers: Doomsday* have begun to surface, following teases from the Russo Brothers about a trailer debuting starting this Thursday. Several sources are reporting plot points, including the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers, and Chris Hemsworth returning as Thor.
*Update:* A trailer featuring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers is now available.
The emerging strategy involves releasing multiple trailers, each spotlighting a single character. This approach appears designed to re-establish key Avengers as central figures in the film. Reportedly, three of the four rumored trailers will focus on legacy Avengers, leaving one trailer as a potential wildcard. If Marvel follows recent patterns, the fourth trailer might showcase a female character, possibly Scarlet Witch, though Shuri is seen as more likely, assuming a fourth trailer is produced. An X-Men character reveal or a full trailer could also be in the cards.
According to Daniel RPK, the first trailer will highlight the return of Steve Rogers, establishing him as the film's lead. RPK has criticized Marvel's decision to revert to legacy characters instead of promoting newer ones, a strategy shift he attributes to the perceived underperformance of Kevin Feige’s post-*Endgame* efforts to introduce new leads. RPK stated: “Ok, so since Marvel is revealing it themselves, I can also tell you that the first teaser is Steve Rogers–focused and his return is confirmed. The reason is to establish him as the lead character in Avengers Doomsday.”
MyTimeToShine on X provided further details, claiming the Steve Rogers trailer depicts him riding home on a motorcycle with a baby boy. The teaser concludes with the tagline “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday,” followed by “December 2026” and a countdown.
Reportedly, Doctor Doom was initially slated to have the first trailer, but Marvel changed the release order. If this information holds true, Doom’s trailer is now expected to be the third one released. According to reports: “Oh interesting, so they switched the order. Doom was supposed to go first. Okay, no reason for me to hide it then, or people would think I was BSing. The four “trailers” aren’t really trailers they’re four short scenes, each focusing on a different character. The one with Steve was originally supposed to be the third, but it looks like it’s going to be the first now. It shows Steve riding home on a bike. He has a baby boy. There’s a tagline that reads “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday” followed by “December 2026” and then a countdown.”
It is presumed that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will be the subject of the second trailer, given the change in order: “Since they changed the order, I’m ASSUMING Thor will be the second one now.”
Leaks also suggest that *Avengers: Doomsday* picks up directly after *Endgame*, effectively disregarding events that occurred afterward.
The weekly rollout of the *Avengers: Doomsday* trailers is anticipated to begin this Thursday, with each trailer attached to theatrical showings of *Avatar: Fire and Ash*. *Avengers: Doomsday* is scheduled for release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
