The Apple TV app on Android finally supports Google Cast! Version 2.2 lets you stream Apple TV content to compatible devices. A welcome addition for Android users.
After a few years on the market, Apple's streaming service has finally delivered a much-requested feature to its Android app. While its library isn't as extensive as some competitors, Apple TV boasts compelling exclusive content. Although the Apple TV application recently became available for Android users, it lacked a key function: Google Cast support.
Now, just in time to close out the year, Apple has updated the Apple TV app on Android to include Google Cast compatibility, according to 9to5Google. This addition allows users to stream content directly from their Android devices to any Google Cast-enabled device.
With version 2.2 of the Apple TV app, a new button will appear within the app's interface, enabling casting on virtually any screen. Once casting begins, standard playback controls will be available, including play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward. Users can also adjust subtitle and audio preferences during casting.
To take advantage of this new feature, users should download the latest update (version 2.2) of the Apple TV app from the Google Play Store.
Apple TV offers a range of content, including popular shows like Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Slow Horses. Currently, the service is promoting the F1 Movie and Pluribus, a new show from the creator of Breaking Bad. New subscribers can explore the platform with a seven-day trial period.
