The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has appointed a Cricket Advisory Committee headed by Anil Kumble and revamped its selection panels.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has announced a significant restructuring of its selection committees, highlighted by the formation of a high-profile Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) led by former India captain Anil Kumble. The association has also appointed Amit Verma to chair the senior selection panel, while GK Anil Kumar will head the junior committee.
The changes, approved by the managing committee on Tuesday after a virtual meeting, aim to improve player selection across different age groups. The KSCA is still reviewing the women’s selection committees, with a decision expected soon.
The newly formed CAC includes former Indian cricketers Javagal Srinath, Sunil Joshi, and Vijay Bharadwaj, alongside Jayshree Doraiswamy as the sole woman representative. KSCA president Venkatesh Prasad and vice-president Sujith Somasundar will serve as ex officio members.
The association has reverted to a traditional two-panel system: one for seniors and U-23 players, and another for the U-19, U-16, and U-14 categories. In a notable move, Amit Verma, who is in his first season as a selector, has been promoted to chairman of the senior committee, replacing Anand Katti. S Prakash and Suneel Raju, both previously part of the U-23 panel, will also join the senior committee, along with Tejpal Kothari. GK Anil Kumar replaces KL Ashwath as head of the junior selection committee and will be supported by C Raghavendra, GN Umesh, and DS Ananth.
In another change, Ganesh Satish, a Ranji Trophy-winning batter, has replaced Somashekar Siruguppi as the men’s U-23 coach. Deepak Chougule has been appointed as assistant coach, taking over from SR Deepu. This marks Ganesh Satish's first coaching assignment with Karnataka. Karnataka is currently leading Group D in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy and will play their next match on January 23, 2026. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. the team did not qualify for the U-23 State A Trophy knockouts, finishing third in their group.
