The Metropolitan Police will not take further action regarding claims Prince Andrew sought information on Virginia Giuffre from his protection officer.
The Metropolitan Police has announced it will not pursue further action regarding allegations that Prince Andrew, also known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, requested his police protection officer to obtain information about Virginia Giuffre, his accuser.
The allegations, initially reported by the Mail on Sunday in October, claimed that Prince Andrew provided the officer with Ms. Giuffre's date of birth and social security number. This allegedly occurred shortly before the newspaper released a photo of the two individuals meeting in February 2011.
On Saturday, the Met Police stated that a subsequent assessment of the claims “has not revealed any additional evidence of criminal acts or misconduct.”
Prince Andrew has consistently denied all allegations against him but has not offered any comment on these specific reports.
A police spokesperson stated, "The Met remains committed to thoroughly assessing any new information that could assist in this matter."
"To date, we have not received any additional evidence that would support reopening the investigation. In the absence of any further information, we will be taking no further action," the spokesperson continued.
The police added, "As with any other matter, should new and relevant information be brought to our attention, including any information resulting from the release of material in the US, we will assess it."
Virginia Giuffre, who died earlier this year, had stated that she was among the girls and young women sexually exploited by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his wealthy associates. Ms. Giuffre alleged that she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew on three separate occasions, including one instance when she was 17 years old at the home of Ghislaine Maxwell.
