Melbourne Renegades finish league stage with a win and at fourth - their fate now rests in the results of the teams around them

Georgia Wareham put on an all-round clinic (3-21 and 49* off 29) to keep Melbourne Renegades in the hunt for a top-four finish. Her first effort kept third-placed Sydney Sixers down to 130 for 9, and the second enabled the Renegades in chase. With that, the Renegades finish the league stage on 10 points and fourth spot. They now await results of the other teams around them to learn their fate. Perth Scorchers - also on 10 points, can usurp them if they beat bottom-placed Brisbane Heat in their last game. Adelaide Strikers - at sixth with eight points - will also be in the mix if they can beat Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers - the teams currently sitting at #1 and #3.
Sixers were hamstrung in the game by the lack of batting support for Ellyse Perry, who top-scored with a 47-ball 65. Incredibly, the next best effort was Ashleigh Gardner's 16 as seven other batters fell for single-digit scores (including two ducks). Renegades' bowling was top-class as Wareham was flanked by more effective bowlers - Alice Capsey (2-27) and Sophie Molineux (1-21). In chase, Renegades were rattled early as they fell to 29 for 3 by the seventh over. That became 49 for 4 close to the halfway stage when Wareham and Courtney Webb joined forces. They hit nine fours and two sixes between them to race away and secure the victorywith a whirlwind partnership of 85 from just 43 deliveries.
