Following a mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has promised to strengthen Australia's gun laws. The attack, which took place during a Jewish holiday celebration, resulted in 15 fatalities and numerous injuries.
Speaking at a news conference on Monday, Albanese stated that his government is ready to take any necessary actions in response to the tragedy.
According to officials, the Sunday attack was an act of terrorism. The alleged perpetrator was identified as a 24-year-old Australian citizen, whose 50-year-old father, an immigrant who arrived in Australia in 1998, possessed six registered firearms. The father's country of origin has not yet been released.
Police officers shot both suspects at the scene. The father was killed, and the son was wounded. Authorities anticipate filing criminal charges against the younger man. Neither suspect has been publicly identified.
