Akhanda, starring NBK, demonstrates strong box office performance, earning approximately ₹60 crore worldwide in two days despite mixed reviews.
Akhanda, the latest Telugu film starring Nandamuri Balakrishna (NBK), has performed surprisingly well at the box office. On its second day, the film grossed approximately ₹17 crore in India, bringing its total domestic earnings to around ₹50 crore in just two days.
Internationally, Akhanda has earned approximately USD 1.05 million (₹9.50 crore), pushing its total worldwide gross to approximately ₹60 crore.
This strong performance is notable because the film received mixed reviews, and films of this genre often see a significant drop in viewership after the opening day. While the film's earnings dropped by about 50% on the second day, this is typical for Telugu films, which tend to be heavily frontloaded, with a large portion of revenue coming on the first day.
The film performed well across the Telugu states, with Nizam being its strongest region. This is unusual for an NBK film, which typically performs best in the Ceded districts, with Nizam being a weaker area. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. Nizam has recently shown improved performance, possibly due to the film's intellectual property, as the original film was well-received. Despite the positive performance, the film still needs to perform well to ensure profitability for its investors.
