Nandamuri Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 opened with a strong ₹30.53 crore but failed to meet the high expectations set by its predecessor's success.
Nandamuri Balakrishna's fans finally saw Akhanda 2 hit the big screen yesterday, following several postponements. The sequel to the successful first film, which also gained a strong digital following, had generated considerable anticipation. Early predictions suggested it could be Balakrishna's biggest opener, potentially reaching ₹50 crore net on its first day in India. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. the film's initial box office performance, while solid, didn't quite live up to those high hopes.
Leading up to the release, buzz around Akhanda 2 was significant. But many believe the filmmakers hampered the film's potential with uninspired promotional material. Critics have also pointed to issues with the movie's content, leading to unfavorable word-of-mouth among general audiences. These factors likely limited the film's opening day performance.
**Akhanda 2's Day 1 Earnings**
Across Telugu-speaking regions, Akhanda 2 achieved an average occupancy rate of just over 52% on Friday. The Hindi version had a weaker start, with only 10% occupancy. Overall, the film earned ₹30.53 crore net in India on its opening day, including ₹8 crore from Thursday's premiere screenings. This translates to approximately ₹36.02 crore gross. While these figures appear respectable on their own, they fall short when compared to pre-release projections.
Due to negative early reactions, Akhanda 2 is expected to see a significant drop in box office earnings on its second day. A slight recovery is possible on day three, but overall collections are likely to be impacted.
