A woman's protest led to the abrupt end of a Dileep film screening on a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus, sparking debate among passengers.
A screening of a film starring actor Dileep was halted on a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Thottilpalam after a female passenger strongly objected. The incident occurred days after a controversial court verdict in the 2017 Malayalam actor assault case, in which Dileep was acquitted of masterminding the crime.
Lakshmi R Shekhar, a passenger from Pathanamthitta, initiated the protest against the screening of Dileep's movie, *Ee Parakkum Thalika*. Her actions ignited a debate among passengers about the appropriateness of showing such films on public transportation.
According to Asianet, Lakshmi stated that passengers should not be compelled to watch movies they don't want to see while traveling on a KSRTC bus. Other women passengers echoed this sentiment, suggesting that such screenings could create an uncomfortable environment during their journey. Lakshmi noted that most passengers reacted positively to her objection.
That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. not everyone agreed with halting the film. Some passengers voiced support for Dileep, arguing that a court verdict had already been delivered and questioning the need for the protest. Lakshmi responded by asserting that many women did not want to be subjected to such films during their bus journey and insisted that Dileep's films should not be shown on the bus.
The escalating disagreement eventually led the bus conductor to stop the film, effectively ending the screening and restoring order on the bus.
