Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve was officially revealed at the Game Awards 2025 on Thursday night, thrilling longtime fans of the iconic flight-combat series. The announcement trailer showcased high-intensity dogfights, advanced aircraft, and a new story set in the mysterious region of Theve. Bandai Namco confirmed that the game is scheduled for release in Fall 2026, giving players plenty of time to anticipate its next-generation visuals and upgraded mechanics. Ace Combat 8 will launch on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. With expanded online modes and a deeper narrative experience, the game aims to deliver one of the franchise’s most ambitious entries yet.
According to GameInformer, the latest, largely cinematic trailer hints that the new installment will put greater emphasis on storytelling and character development. Even so, it’s obvious that the game will continue to deliver the franchise’s signature action, with high-speed military jets battling across the skies. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is arriving seven years after Ace Combat 7, which sold a record 7 million copies and helped reshape modern arcade flight-action games.
Ace Combat Series brand director Kazutoki Kono reflected on the team’s long journey and expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans while celebrating the game’s reveal.
"One year ago, we decided with the team to debut at this place. We've finally made it. And we've completed the biggest project of this year. This is dedicated to all the fans who believed in us and continued to support us," Kono posted on X.
