Royal Challengers Bengaluru eyes Venkatesh Iyer, Mustafizur Rahman, and others at the IPL 2026 auction to bolster their squad. Read more here.
With the IPL 2026 auction on the horizon, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is expected to be in the market for an Indian middle-order batsman capable of providing both stability and aggression. This need arises after the release of England all-rounder Liam Livingstone.
Venkatesh Iyer could be a prime target for RCB. If available at the right price, his left-handed batting would offer valuable balance to the team. He could potentially fill the No. 3 or No. 4 spot. It's worth noting that RCB showed strong interest in Iyer during the IPL 2025 mega-auction, bidding up to Rs 23.50 crore before Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured him for Rs 23.75 crore. Iyer has accumulated 1468 runs in 62 IPL matches, striking at 137.32, including one century and 12 half-centuries. His ability to contribute with the ball adds further value.
RCB also needs to reinforce their fast bowling department. Following the release of South African pacer Lungi Ngidi, the franchise requires an overseas backup for Josh Hazlewood. This is especially crucial given Hazlewood's potentially heavy workload, considering his participation in the Ashes and the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Gerald Coetzee presents an attractive option. The young, high-pace bowler could be a smart, value-oriented acquisition for RCB, allowing them to manage their overseas player slots and budget effectively during the IPL 2026 auction.
Another player RCB may target is Mustafizur Rahman. The Bangladeshi left-arm pacer could address a long-standing weakness in the RCB squad. Rahman is highly regarded as a death-overs specialist, thanks to his left-arm angle and variations.
